Kelvedon a private 55 acres farm in Marshall Virginia is in search of an experienced and organized manager who also has show groom experience.


This is a privately owned barn no boarders.


We're growing and need another horse experienced person on our team to help us manage our fledgling 12 stall dressage operation.br>


In this position, you'd participate in the daily schedule of the horses from turn out, feeding blanketing, grooming, to scheduling farm maintenance activities such as mowing, cleaning, fence painting etc, gardening by other full time farm members. You will be the point person with contractors when we are doing projects on the farm and also when ordering feed, shavings, as well as speaking with the vet and farrier. All roads will lead to you, so being organized and good with people is key.



Most important is your complete attention and concern for the horses. Each day you will need to check for potential illness, injury etc and make sure that they are healthy and in good spirits.

You should be experienced and confident properly handling yearlings to big 17H dressage prima donas! The ability to teach the youngsters to stand for the farrier and lunging are important. Having previous experience at a dressage stable or professional barn is a plus.



This position entails occasionally going to local shows and perhaps a month or two in Florida during the Winter with one horse or two so you need to be able to travel.



An adorable furnished cottage located on the property is provided with all utilities, internet etc.





The work week is five days a week with two days off. Hours 8:00AM - 5 PM with an hour lunch .



Salary is commensurate with experience. Definitely competitive for the right person.Bonuses provided. Paid vacation, health insurance offered.



Skills/requirements



Minimum High school degree



Clean driving record and pass a background check



Experience driving a truck and trailer



Grooming, clipping, basic ground work and leading



Equine first aid, intramuscular shots



Organized, record keeping of horses using equine software.



Board for 1 horse can be included but is on a case by case basis.
